Football Tournament

Cliddesden Primary School's football team took part in a 5-a-Side football tournament organised by Aldershot Town FC on Monday 11th December. Despite freezing temperatures and early morning snow, the competition still went ahead! This was the first time the school played in their new Nike football strip, given to us by Premier League Primary Stars.

In the group stage we played St Josephs, Dogmersfield and Park View respectively. In the first game, despite dominating and having nearly 20 shots on goal, the keeper, cross bar and posts denied us scoring. St Joseph's had one shot on target and it went in against the run of play.

An unlucky 1-0 defeat by St Josephs made us raise our game in the next match and we hammered Dogmersfield 4-0. To qualify we had to get a least a draw in our last game against Park View. The gold and green army played superbly and gained a 3-0 victory to take them into the quarter finals.

We were drawn against St Joseph's again. Frustratingly it was almost an identical replay of our first game. Lots of missed chances and when we needed it least, the opposition scored. Although we had more possession and skill, we couldn't get an equaliser and crashed out of the competition.

Next term we have two more tournaments to take part in and we need practice shooting and playing a quicker, tighter game. Mr Davies says the current team is the strongest Cliddesden has had to date so here's to greater things!
