Year 5/6 Athletics Tournament
12 children from Cliddesden Primary attended one of three athletics qualifying competitions held in Basingstoke this month. The top three teams to qualify will go on to compete in the Basingstoke final held at Cranbourne. From here the top three teams will then have the opportunity to compete at the county final in March.
Cliddesden team all worked hard to gain points in a variety of athletics events including; 1, 2 and 3 length sprints, triple jump, long jump, javelin and many more! Each member of the team took part in two running events, one throwing event and one jumping event. During the course of the afternoon we saw every member of the team striving to produce their best performances in each event. There were notable performances from Katie who gained a top score in the chest push throwing event and our girls 1 by 1 relay team, who gained first place. Well done: Eryn, Maia, Emily and Katie! The boys performed well in both the chest push and triple jump giving Cliddesden some of our highest scores.
Unfortunately, this year there was great competition and we missed out on a place in the next round, but there was great sportsmanship shown throughout the competition by our athletics team.
