KS1 Seaside Afternoon
Beech and Willow Class spent a lovely afternoon at the seaside. The children paraded along the seafront in their beach clothes, showing their friends all the beach accessories they had brought along for the afternoon.
We then split into six groups for beach activities. The children enjoyed playing ‘Shove halfpenny’, the coconut shy, the stick and hoop races, and the sandcastle competition. We talked about all these Victorian games, and Miss Haresign gave each group a pennylick and the children found out some facts about this Victorian treat. Everyone also scooted along the pier, played the end of pier game, and tried dodging the seats and ducking from the sea spray!
After an exhausting afternoon, the winners of the competitions were announced and Mrs Nicholson said everyone deserved another beach treat - a cornetto! Yummy fun was had by all.
Thank you to all the staff for helping, and to the children for bringing a little seaside spirit to Cliddesden.
