Chestnut Class - African Workshop
On Tuesday 6th June, which was an awesome day, we had a African Workshop in Chestnut Class, an by a man called Kwame from North Ghana.
Firstly, Kwame talked to us about his house and family and how to make a symbolised cloth. So we had a go at making our own one, they were fantastic! There were lots of different designs. Then it was break time were we wondered what would happen next…
After an enjoyable breaktime, Kwame talked to us about African music and we then took it in turns to play an African drum, called a Djembe Drum. We then learnt the words to a traditional African song and put this together with the music we made from the drums and other instruments and some dancing. Finally, we had a dancing competition to the music: Boys Vs Girls.
