Willow Class Parent Workshop

As a class, we decided that Red Ridding Hood’s Grandma needed to learn about being healthier. In English, the whole class discussed healthy snacks. This lead into the year 1’s session where they wrote some healthy fruity recipes which would be perfect for Grandma.

We invited our parents in to help Willow class make some healthy snacks for Grandma, so she could get better (she kept eating cake and was still poorly!). With this, all the children had the opportunity to make and try these healthy snacks too! We made: fruit tarts, fruit kebabs, fruit smooth and a fruit salad.

First, we all washed out hands. Then everyone followed their recipe, and were brilliant at peeling and chopping. Once we were all ready, we sat down to try all the snacks. Then Grandma came! We were very surprised, but pleased to see her. Everyone helped explain to Grandma about being healthy, and she tried all the snacks. She really liked them, and promised to eat healthier.

Well done to all of Willow class and the adult helpers. We all now know how to make healthy snacks and why this is important.

One parent said ‘Great workshop! It was lovely being able to take part with an activity. It was all brilliantly organised and we had a great time! Thank you!’

Another parent said ‘Brilliant workshop. It was fantastic to see the year 1’s taking charge with the recipes and helping out with the younger children.’
