Year 6 visit The Gordon Brown Centre

On the 13th of May year six, who had finished their SATs the previous day, went to the Gordon Brown Centre – as a treat. We completed many fun and challenging activities such as: the low ropes, which we had to travel around without touching the ground; the assault course, in the woods and the shelter building activity.

During the low ropes we had to complete part of the course, for example, we had to make a bridge using two differently sized planks of wood. We also had to put metal poles (like batons) into the holes in long wooden poles to get across. Year 6 were then put into two teams, competing against each other to try to complete the obstacles in the fastest time. We ate around the campfire and then made our way to the shelter building area. We had to make our own sturdy shelters in groups of five.

All in all, we thought that the trip to the Gordon Brown centre was a really good treat - after SATs – we all would do it again in a heartbeat.
