Life Bus

Willow class shared what they knew about food. We then all used our energy to move the bus.

We felt our bones and learnt about our rib cage and what was under our ribs. The children learnt where different parts of their body are including: the heart, veins, lunges, stomach, intestines and brain. The children pressed the different body parts and saw them light up on the model of a body.

Then we met Harry the singing giraffe. He taught us to wash our hands to keep us from getting sick. We looked through Harry's wash bag and talked about brushing teeth, having baths, medicine and brushing hair.

The children came up with good ideas of why we shouldn't take too much medicine and who helps us take medicine.

We did some exercise, listening carefully to the instructions in the song and felt our hearts beating.

Harold phoned us and asked for help, he was sleeping over at his grandparents and had a lovely time but was missing his parents. The children each told Harry their idea to be happy. We all fell asleep like Harold and then looked at the stars and picked one to put under our pillows. The stars were to help us remember to sleep well as sleep keeps us healthy too!

Willow Class enjoyed their trip on the Life Bus and loved giving Harold the giraffe a cuddle good bye!

Beech Class were very excited about being aboard the life bus.  We dashed through the rain and up the slope into the warm inviting room.  We discussed what our bodies need to be healthy and what types of food give us energy.

Behind a magical curtain they revealed a body and we helped find different parts of the body and talk about how they work.  Did you know you heart is about the same size of your fist and your brain is similar in size to both your fists put together!

The Harold the Giraffe appeared and we helped him to make a health lunch and work in a team with his friends to make a statue out of healthy fruit.  what a lovely end to the week we had.  Thanks for coming Harold.

Chestnut Class had great fun on the life bus learning about our bodies and main organs. We learnt about the important organs such as the heart, lungs, intestines, liver and brain and what they do in our bodies.

We thought about which was the most important organ but this was a trick answer as all of the organs are needed and are just as important to keep our bodies working properly.

We also thought about what things can be helpful and harmful to our bodies such as medicines, alcohol and tobacco.

Oak Class focused on making choices that are positive for our emotional and physical well- being. We enjoyed taking part in role play scenarios where we learnt how to be assertive without aggression and doing what we know to be right. We learnt a lot about the damaging effects of different substances on our bodies and the importance of making positive choices.
