Brighton Hill Young Leaders
Some of the children in Year 5 went along to Brighton Hill Community School to learn how to become young leaders in games and activities.
The day was based at Powerleague where students from Brighton Hill took groups of Year 5 children and taught them games which they will be able to play and teach to younger students in their own schools. Some of the games had been made up by the students like’ Bunny Bounce’, where each player takes a turn to run through a hoop, pick up the ball, bounce it round a cone and return it back to its place before the next person goes, and others, were more traditional games like ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf’.
After break the Year 5 children were given the opportunity to implement and co-ordinate a game to their group based on what they had learnt, including, speaking and listening, demonstration, and then playing.
In the afternoon groups joined together to give an experience of sharing ideas and games with a larger amount of students. It was a successful day and all had a very enjoyable day. A big thank you goes to Miss Costen and her Young Leaders for inviting us.
