Class S visit the Anvil

Report by:

Joe, Olivia and Nikhila

On the 1st of July class S went to the Anvil to listen to the young musicians play all sorts of instruments.

Transport

At school we were split up into groups to go with different children’s mums and dads as well as Mr Stapleton, Mrs Garland and the Headteacher, Mr Davies.

Tyco

When most of the schools had settled down the Tyco players started to drum. We all went silent. The sound of the drums made you vibrate. There were lots of different sizes of drums, some small ones and some very big ones.

Strings

In the strings there were violins, double bases, cellos and a few other stringed instruments. The youngest musician was eight years old, she played the violin, and they were all really good.

Percussion

It was very loud and they didn’t make one single mistake. They were all on time with each other even the boy who used a symbol every eight beats.

Singing

Part way through, a Year 11 pupil came and sung two love songs while playing the piano which he taught himself.  One of the songs he made up, he was really good. After listening to it you could not believe it was a year eleven pupil that was performing the songs.
