Laverstoke Park Farm

KS1 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Laverstoke Park Farm.

We enjoyed see the free-range pigs and hens and exploring the Victorian walled garden and orchard.

A high with the children was having the opportunity to bottle feed the baby buffalo, of which some were only a week old (we were not allowed to feed these ones!)

Why not enjoy a family day out to Laverstoke Park Farm?

We visited the milking parlour.

We enjoyed seeing the pigs and their baby piglets.  We were even fortunate enough to see the piglets being fed.  We could tell that they were very well looked after as they were not afraid of us and even came up to greet us if we stood very still.

We found out that a pure bred French hen each lay approximately 180 eggs per year, where as a conventional hybrid hen will lay over 320 per year. A hen’s diet has a major influence on the nutritional value of the eggs produced.

We explored the Victorian walled garden and orchard.

The highlight had to be the buffalo milking parlour where we got to bottle-feed the buffalo calves.
