GIST Limited visit
On Tuesday 7th June we had a visit from a brand new large lorry. Stuart and Keith from Gist Ltd came to talk to the children as part of their Child Road Safety Programme. Each class watched a road safety presentation and then went outside to see the lorry. The children were asked to estimate the length of the lorry (without the trailer) and estimate its stopping distance. We discovered it was 15 metres long and had a stopping distance of 25 mtres even at 30mph! We all had a go in the cab and investigated the driver's visibility range. We discovered that 45 children could be hidden in front of the cab. All this is important to know for our road safety. Another amazing fact is that the lorry weighed the same as 76 cows!
