Under 8 Rugby Tournament
It was a bright, sunny afternoon when our Year 3 rugby team took to the field at the Daneshill Rugby Tournament. The event was hosted on the Daneshill school grounds and was supported by coaches from the London Irish Rugby Club. Our first match was against Daneshill themselves and we acquitted ourselves well scoring 2 tries. We went straight on to play Rucstall School where we won the game. After a wait whilst Rucstall and Daneshill squared off against each other, we played Rucstall again for a place in the Semi Finals. We won the match and proudly proceeded through to the Semi Finals. Although we did not win the semi-final match our team played brilliantly scoring many tries. The children all worked well together and thoroughly enjoyed their first ever competitive rugby match.
Viking Tag Rugby League
The Viking League came to its conclusion this month. The two final meetings between the four schools in the league were held at Oakley and North Waltham.
In the driving rain at Oakley Junior School, our team manged to achieve a well earned draw with the home team and gain our first ever victory over North Waltham. With Oakley sitting comfortably at the top of the table our task at North Waltham was to try and finish in second place. Two tries up against the home team in the first few minutes it all looked like going to plan. But North Waltham kept their concentration and forced back three tries before we managed a comeback equaliser. Not enough though, as they sneaked the winner in the dying seconds. With our confidence gone we then lost to Overton but in our final game against the champions, Oakley, we managed a hard earned draw.
Well done to the squad, Corrie, Carys, Olivia, Johnathan, Adam, Cameron, Eryn, Thomas, Fred and Samuel and to our coach Mrs Sian Banks.
