Oak Class visit QMC

On Monday the 30th of January, Oak class, went to QMC to learn about Forces including, gears, weights, water resistance and cogs. There were four activities to do. The first activity was about weights, we used pulley’s and weights to discovery that the heavier the weight the easier it is to lift with a pulley.   The second experiment was with cogs and gears, we found that the smaller the cog the faster the gear moved and the bigger cog produced more power.

Thirdly we used water and wooden boats to learn about water resistance using a stopwatch we learnt which shape boat was the fasted and which was the slowest and why this was.

Lastly, we learnt about friction we used different types of string, weights and cogs and discovered which gave the least and most friction.

We all enjoyed our science morning at QMC and learnt lots of new facts.
