Beech Class Parent Workshop
Firstly, thank you for the amazing turnout to our class workshop, based on our topic - Out of this World. The children have worked incredibly hard this term and to have an audience to showcase their work to was brilliant for them.
Our Photostories really were a cross-curricular project covering literacy, art, ICT and PSHE. They had to work as a team drawing upon each and every child's talent to accomplish the task. Based on the book 'Toys in Space', the children all had to bring in one toy of their own. Each team had to incorporate every team member's toy in their story. The children created storyboards and backdrops. They then had to photograph each scene, download load these photos and create their own Photostories. They had to think about colour contrast, sizing and positioning of text. They also had to add transitions and alter the timings of each frame. Finally, they had enormous fun adding the music. I'm sure you will agree, they all did a fantastic job.
The second part of our workshop was for the children to create their own porthole with their family member. They had to imagine they were looking out of their rocket porthole and seeing the planet they had been studying in class. Using black sugar paper and pastels the children had to use their imagination to create their picture and then had fun assembling their portholes. What exciting results we had.
