Hampshire Fire and Rescue - Car and Bike Safety
On Friday 23rd January, three members of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service visited Oak Class to discuss road safety. We learnt how to keep safe when travelling in a car and when cycling on a bike.
During the morning, there were two session- one was a session about the importance of wearing a seatbelt when on car journeys. We watched a short clip about a family who had an accident; however one member of the family was not wearing a seatbelt and ended up in hospital.
The second session was learning how to maintain and check our bicycles before riding them. We learnt that we can use the ‘M Check’ to help check our bike, starting at one tyre and ending up at the other. We were given a bike and asked to find three faults- once we had found the fault we were allowed to use a tool kit to repair one of the fault.

We enjoyed our morning with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, and most importantly we learnt lots about how to stay safe when on the road.
