Zoolab visit Chestnut Class

Chestnut class were lucky enough to meet some unusual visitors recently. The class met and had the chance to hold or touch a Giant African Land Snail, A Giant African Millipede and a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach. These are all creatures that live in the Rainforest- our fascinating topic. We learnt about their methods of defence from predators; The Chilean Rose Tarantula and the Cane Toad, were observed closely but stayed in their boxes- as they could have caused irritations. Chestnut class also had the chance to hold Henry the Red- Footed Tortoise and a Corn snake- whilst learning all about the animals’ habitats, feeding habits, and many scientific terms that will help us to identify and classify animals. Some of us were very brave and overcame our fears to hold the creatures. We learnt a great deal, asking great questions; ask a member of Chestnut class to explain about exoskeletons or herbivores, or what makes an animal an amphibian or a reptile. Watch out if you visit Chestnut class there are a few creepy creatures hanging in our tree vines!
