Oak Class Farm Visit
On the 15th of June, Oak class visited Southwood farm in Dummer to find out what happens on a working farm, by taking part in a range of activities.
At the farm we learnt new facts whilst taking part in a variety of activities, such as: a tractor ride around different fields and crops, finding out facts about bees from the bee keeper; watching how gun dogs were trained; the future of farming; the crops that we use in our daily foods and we looked at tractors from different eras. One thing that the whole class found very fascinating was how the gun dogs were trained with whistles and hand signals so they don’t scare off birds by making too much noise.
Overall the whole class enjoyed the visit, learnt many new interesting facts and enjoyed all the activities. We would like to visit another farm next year.
