4th  Oakley

On Monday 2nd March 2015, Cliddesden took part in the netball tournament competing against other local schools. Overall we came second and qualified to the next stage of the competition, us being the only undefeated team!

In our first game, against Oakley, the final score ended up 2 all! At the end of each game all of the schools gave 3 cheers for their opponent, the centre leading it.

Our second game was against St Johns, once again the final score ended up 2 all. The pupils there were very tall, and we did great at jumping and intervening with the ball.

The third game was against Hatch Warren, and we won 3-1! In their previous game they won 7-2 so the whole team was extremely pleased when we won.

Our fourth and final game was against Park View and Cliddesden won 3-2. We all worked really hard and finished amazingly.

Overall Cliddesden did exceptionally well and since we finished in the top 3 we are able to compete in the next stage on the 19th of March.

2nd round

On Thursday 19th March 2015 the Cliddesden Netball Team went to Russell Howard Park and played in the 2nd round of the competition.  We came 5th out of 30 schools; we played in Pool B against 4 other schools.

Our first game was against Great Binfields, and we won 2-0. It was a good match, and we were really happy when we won, especially since it was our first game.

The next team we played was St Marks; when we saw their height we were slightly nervous but in the end we luckily won 4-2!

The third game we played was against St Bede’s. Unfortunately we lost but we gave it everything and finished with smiles on our faces. The score was 4-2 but this wasn’t a total surprise as they came 4th overall.

Our fourth and final game in Pool B was against Burghclere – who won the competition last year – and unluckily we drew 2-2 .This match then determined our place in our group and who we would play next – that would establish our final position.

To decide what place we would finish at overall, we had to play against Hatch Warren, yet again. When we won  3-2 we were extremely happy that we could say our victory last time was not just luck!

We then listened intently to find out our overall position; the top five teams were: 5th – Cliddesden, 4th – St Bede’s, 3rd – Priory, 2nd - Burghclere and 1st – St Mary’s.
