KS1 Trip to Birdworld

As part of our current topic, Willow and Beech Class enjoyed at exciting day at Birdworld.

We explored the Underwater World and saw some animals we'd never seen before.

At the 'live' theatre, Noddy the parrot was the star of the show.  He could tell us that he was a parrot and when asked, he could show us his wings and his claws.

We also met Barry the Bunny

Terry the Tortoise

and Monty the Royal Python

We learnt lots of new facts about penguins and saw the greedy wild herons who knew when it was time for a free meal!

We saw many birds on our trip and learnt lots of new facts.

Why not ask us about some of them?

Some of our Year 2 recounts:

On an exciting Wednesday we were going on a coach. It took half an hour to get there, the trip place was Bird World! We saw the big, black swans being lazy swimming about. We stayed there for four hours.

The teachers were Mrs Jordan, Mrs Smith, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Garland.

I saw a parrot that copies you, just in a parrot voice. Before that we went to Underwater World. It was awesome. Then it was lunch and after lunch we saw parrots. When we laughed, they laughed back. We saw Isla’s favourite, a snowy owl.

Before lunch we saw a peacock who was showing off his feathers.

Rushing quickly into school with Mr Davies, I was wondering if the coach had already gone! As soon as I got to the office the register wasn’t there so they mustn’t have gone, I said in my head. Walking quietly into the classroom I noticed everyone was on the carpet with all their stuff ready to go. I got my lunch, my backpack and we were ready to set off.

We got into groups and I was in Mrs Garlands, then we went to the toilet before getting on the coach. After that we went back into the classroom, went back into our groups and set off outside to get on the bus. The bus driver was very kind and helped me on the bus.

It took half an hour to get to Bird World and on the way I sat next to Daniel W and played rock, paper, scissors and had great fun. When we got there we went to some very quiet ducks and they floated in the water very gracefully. Next we went in the temple where we saw lots of birds including owls. Then we saw some love birds, then a penguin show and it was brilliant. Tiredly I strolled forward and to my amazement I saw a park. We had lunch, it was lovely.

First we got onto the coach, with a very nice bus driver. Next we went on a half hour trip to Bird World. When we got to Bird World we got off the coach. Running quickly we slammed open the doors and ran into the Temperature House. Walking quietly into the building the first bird we saw were the ducks, chicks and swans. Then we went to the penguin feeding.   Meanwhile, we played in the park, then we had lunch. After lunch we went to the Discovery Theatre and saw a talking parrot. We stroked a rabbit, a tortoise and a snake. Then we went to wash our hands. Then we went home.
