KS2 Gymnastics Tournament

At the end of our Autumn term, KS2 participated in an inter-house gymnastics competition. The children worked in small groups, within their house teams, to create their own gymnastic routine. Each routine had to include: a straight shape, tuck shape, star shape, straddle shape and pike shape as well as a series of balances and higher skills such as bridge, dish, shoulder stand, front support and back support. The older children were tasked with including a greater number of the higher skills and balances in their routine.

The children performed their routines to the rest of their Key Stage and the routines were judged on what skills they had included, musical awareness, transitions and team work.

The judges had a really hard job as the routines were amazing. The children had worked hard in the preceding weeks to perfect their routines and to come up with both graceful and dynamic moves. The finished routines were a joy to behold and the children were very proud of what they had achieved.

The results were very close but the winning house, with a total of 173 points, was Ellisfield.
