Chestnut Class Field Study

On Wednesday 29th June, Chestnut Class were explorers for the day!

We started our day on the field where we went on a 'worm' hunt. There were different coloured pieces of wool hidden in the bushes and one by one, we had to run and collect one. We realised that the red and white ones were collected first and the black and green ones last or left behind. We discussed that this is because the darker colours were more camouflaged.

Afterwards, we ventured to the Quiet Garden to make some music. Using body percussion and natural materials around, we created a piece of music which sounded like a thunderstorm. Each group did a fantastic job and all the pieces of music sounded like different storms.

Once the rain dried up, we went on an adventure around the drove. On our walk, we collected sticks, leaves and rocks for our afternoon activities. We also made some bark and leaf rubbings while admiring the amazing view!

After lunch we headed back to the field for some outdoor activities. Our first activity was den building, our second was natural weaving, the third was making a bug hotel and our final activity was using airdrying clay to make pots.
