Oak Class Theatre Trip and Workshop
Oak went to visit the Theatre Royal in Winchester to watch a performance of Bugsy Malone. The show was performed by Embley school, an independent school in Romsey. We were fortunate enough to watch their final dress rehearsal and afterwards we discussed the performance with Liam Gifford, who is the Young People's Producer for the theatre. It was fantastic to be able to sit up in the circle - we were able to see the musicians in the pit and we could also see the theatre technicians operate the lights. We are very grateful to the Embley school for allowing us to see their show - they had clearly worked very hard to learn their lines, songs and dances.
On Thursday, Liam came to the school and helped us to think about our own performance skills. We worked on projection, line delivery, emphasis and exaggeration and use of space. We are going to use these improved skills in our own rehearsals!
