Year 5 and 6 Netball Finals
On Tuesday 21s March our netball team played in the Finals of the Basingstoke High 5 competition at Russell Howard Park. Having qualified second in the first round tournament and with our new kit we were excited to play. Our first game was against Bramley which we drew 2-2, our second game against Kempshott we lost 3-2 which dented our confidence a little. But we didn’t have time to worry as our next game was against Woolton Hill we needn’t have worried we were back on winning form finishing the game 11-3. Our confidence now growing we took on St Mary’s and although we lost 3-2. Our last game was against The Priory, Mrs Hussey told us to play our best and just enjoy our last game which we did winning 7-4. As the runners up in our group we then had to play the winner of group B, Burghclere, to decide who would play for 1st or 2nd place, Burghclere beat us 3-1 but we weren’t finished yet as we had to play Sherfield in the 3rd and 4th place game. The team were slightly nervous going on court as not only had Sherfield beaten us at the last tournament we desperately wanted to finish in 3rd place and secure a medal. Every single member of the team played their part with a strong defence, teamwork and great scoring we were victorious with a final score of 5-2. We had done it out of 20 teams entered we had secured third place and bronze medals. What a fantastic result!
