EYFS and KS1 - Animal workshop

Poppy's dad brought in his collection of amazing animals. We looked carefully at different insects, including a praying mantis.  We also found out about spiders and how tarantulas drop hairs when they are frightened.  The tarantula was very big and hairy. Mr Hamilton showed us some tree frogs and explained how they use their feet to stick to smooth surfaces. We then looked at some snakes and a tegu. Poppy showed us her gecko.  Lastly, we were amazed by the turtle which was enormous and very heavy.  Thank-you very much to Mr Hamilton for giving up his time to share his love of amazing animals with us.  We are just beginning our theme of animals in hot and dry habitats and now know some animals to research.
