Willow and Beech Village Walk and Garage Visit
As part of their History and Geography studies, Willow and Beech classes visited the village garage. After a road safety talk and putting on our Hi-Viz vests, we walked down the hill and looked in at the village church to see Willow Class’ poppies decorating the church door. They looked amazing!
We carried on past the pond and finally arrived at the garage. Our challenge was to be History detectives and work out the oldest vehicle. We used spotter sheets and asked questions too. We found a Ford Model T which is going to be 100 next year! It was definitely the oldest vehicle. The children saw many old vehicles, noticing the different number plates, wheels, lights and a great horn.
All the children saw the 1960’s vehicles – the red ones! There was an oil tanker, a jaguar sports car and lots of tools. The children discussed the uses for the tools and saw a very heavy engine.
Despite the rainy weather, everyone had a great morning. We are very grateful to Dawn and Tony for letting us see such and an amazing collection of old vehicles.
