Chestnut Class visit Stubbington Study Centre
On Thursday 12th October, Chestnut Class went to Stubbington Study Centre as part of their Anglo-Saxon History topic. After a quick snack and toilet break we walked to the Longhouse where are morning activities were held. We took part in a carousel of activities including archeological digging, artefact handling, weaving, making clay pots, using wattle and daub, shield designing and writing with Anglo-Saxon Runes. After a busy morning and a quick lunch, we split into four groups to build shelters, each group was given a tarpaulin, ropes and a long bamboo pole. We were given 15 minutes to build a shelter for everyone in the group to keep dry. At the end of the 15 minutes each group had to be inside of their shelter when Mr Davies and Mrs Hussey tested out each shelter for durability and water resistance. With various degrees of success, our trip had unfortunately come to an end and we boarded our coach to return to school.
