Safeguarding
The school Designated Safeguarding lead is Kenneth Davies (Headteacher). The deputy safeguarding leads are Zoe Jordan (Wednesday -Thursday) and Laura Robinson (Thursday- Friday). Our Safeguarding Governor is Mrs Jean Holdcroft.
Cliddesden Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place which is available to view in our statutory information section on this website, alongside our Safeguarding and other safety and well-being related policies. All staff, including supply staff, volunteers and governors, must ensure that they are aware of these procedures.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
At Cliddesden Primary School we value and celebrate diversity and expect all sections of our school community to demonstrate respect towards others and together make our school “safe for everyone”.
We want our school to be an environment which is “safe, supportive and listening”, where all sections of our school community (governors, staff, pupils and parents) understand that bullying in any form, by anyone (adults or children) and anywhere, is always unacceptable.
There is no place for extremist views of any kind in our school, whether from internal sources pupils, staff or governors, or external sources - school community, external agencies or individuals. Our pupils see our school as a safe place where they can explore controversial issues safely and where our teachers encourage and facilitate this – we have a duty to ensure this happens.
As a school we recognise that extremism and exposure to extremist materials and influences can lead to poor outcomes for children and so should be addressed as a safeguarding concern as set out in this policy. We also recognise that if we fail to challenge extremist views, we are failing to protect our pupils.
We are also aware that young people can be exposed to extremist influences or prejudiced views from an early age which emanate from a variety of sources and media, including via the internet, and at times pupils may themselves reflect or display views that may be discriminatory, prejudiced or extremist, including using derogatory language.
Any prejudice, discrimination or extremist views, including derogatory language, displayed by pupils or staff will always be challenged and where appropriate dealt with in line with our Behaviour and Discipline Policy for pupils and the Code of Conduct for staff.
We will provide a broad and balanced curriculum delivered by skilled professionals, so that our pupils are enriched, understand and become tolerant of difference and diversity and also to ensure that they thrive, feel valued and not marginalised.
