Chestnut Class visit QMC

On Tuesday 5th December we visited Queen Mary’s College, Basingstoke to learn more about out science topic: Circuits and conductors.

When we arrived we made a human circuit, each person held a ball which represented the electricity going around the circuit. We had to pass the balls around the circle and if we did this correctly the lightbulb lit up, however if there was a break in the circuit it would not work.

We then each made our own circuit using batteries, bulbs, wires and switches.

Once we had made our own circuit we made a larger one in groups or as a table. Next, we got into groups and took part in four different activities. One was an electricity quiz; another looked at which materials conducted electricity and which were insulators. The other two activities involved making circuits to make lights and motors work.

We had a really good morning at QMC and learnt lots more about electricity, circuits and conductors.
