Beech Class - Lantern Making Workshop
A fantastic turn out of parents and grandparents to our Lantern making workshop inspired by our topic 'On a Beam of Light'.
We have been looking at famous people including Albert Einstein, Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale 'The Lady with the Lamp'. The children have been fascinated by each of their stories and the impact they have had on our lives today. Why not ask them to tell you about them?
The children invited family members to come into class to design and create a lantern using materials of their choice. An additional challenge was to include a working lamp by creating a light circuit.
Before making the lantern we all listened and watch the story of 'Can't you sleep Little Bear?' and once lanterns had been made the children shared the story using either the book or an iPad with their family member.
