Year 4/5 Football Tournament
This week our Under 10s football team (Years 4 and 5) took part in a Basingstoke schools football tournament. It was the first time that they had played for the school and we are very proud that they reached the quarter finals.
In the group stages they narrowly lost to St Bedes 0-1, but beat Oakley 4-O and Oakridge 3-0. This meant that they were through to the knock out rounds as second placed team in their group.
A tough game ensued against Great
Binfields. After a 0-0 draw the game went to penalties. After 3 penalties were taken by each team the score was 2-2.
Great Binfields stepped up first and our goal keeper Oscar made an excellent save. James then hammered our next penalty home and we went through to the quarter finals. Here we were slightly outclassed by St Mary’s, who have a reputation as being one of the top Basingstoke footballing schools, and were defeated 0-2.
We are very proud of how far our team progressed and congratulate all the players who took part.
