Beech Class Story Writing Parent Workshop

During lessons Beech class have been exploring the book 'Nail Soup' - a traditional tale from Poland. We have talked about the ingredients of the soup and looked at adjectives to describe it.

Yesterday, our parents joined us for our workshop in the morning, where we wrote our own recipes for 'Nail Soup.' We chose a different 'magic ingredient' to start with, and used our brilliant adjectives to describe the extra ingredients which would improve our soup. We had crunchy carrots, crispy, sweet onions, and dirty, knobbly potatoes to name a few!

The children were incredibly creative with their magic ingredients; we had some sea shells, stones, pebbles, sand, keys and even some delicate rose petals!

The children worked incredibly hard with the parents and have all produced some amazing recipes.

We will put their recipes together into a yummy soup recipe book - move aside Jamie Oliver!

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who joined us for this exciting morning, and thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas with us all!

Alfie’s Key Soup!

Can unlock the most tasty soup in the world. In my tasty soup I am having a drop of white wine and a piece of chicken. The additional ingredients to make my soup extremely tasty are... crunchy carrots, broccoli, potatoes, and the most important ingredient for my secret key soup is a daisy to make it smell so lovely. I am going to have crusty rolls with my soup! But before I eat my soup, I must remember to take the key out!

Sea Shell Soup!

The first thing this soup needs is a shell from the sandy beach. You could add five tiny tomatoes for extra flavour and perhaps a few crunchy carrots. Maybe for a nicer taste, add some chopped potatoes. If you would like a thicker soup, add a dash of flour as thin as paper. For a soup perfect for a princess add a drop of milk. This will make your soup as delicious as chocolate cakes!
